The Garrison Shift

The second law of thermodynamics states that “the entropy of an isolated system does not decrease”. This is often taken to mean that “disorder always increases” and is frequently misinterpreted. Another way of putting it is “an isolated system’s ability to do work decreases over time”. The second law provides the thermodynamic arrow of time in that one can tell the difference between the past and the future by looking at the amount of entropy in the closed system.

I’m no scientist by any means. As I understand the Second Law of Thermodynamics, it is the reason the Dead Sea is dead. There is incoming water but no out-going. So it is dead.

In the above quote, this caught my eye: “an isolated system’s ability to do work decreases over time”. I feel that I have just about hit the point where my isolated system (my garrison) is not doing work. I worked, for sure, gathering mats every day. I did my daily cooldowns.

But, there is no output.

Once I maxed my crafted gear, got my toys and gizmos and sold some pieces to drastically falling prices — I’ve decided to do the Garrison Shift.

I intend on swapping over my followers to Treasure Hunter. It’s risky because I don’t want to get caught with my pants down (again!). Will our crafted gear go up to 5/5? I have no way of knowing until 6.2 goes on the PTR.

I’m not really sure if it will work. But, with the luck of Elune, I’ll start amassing some gold; even if it’s for the next expansion.
