Achieving a New Year

“The true way to a man’s heart is six inches of metal between his ribs. Sometimes four inches will do the job, but to be really sure, I like to have six. Funny how phallic objects are always more useful the bigger they are. Anyone who tells you size doesn’t matter has been seeing too many small knives.”
Anita Blake (Laurell K Hamilton)

Marking in the New Year

Our guild was created in December four years ago. That is a long time, I think, to keep a guild running. We have around 250 accounts which translates to 700 members. The accounts is the telling number.

To celebrate the Anniversary of our guild and the incoming New Year, we went for the Guild Glory of the Draenor Raider which also gave the Guild Achieves for Imperator and Blackhand.

We needed 16 guildies (to get credit) willing to do the two-and-a-half hour run. We expected to face-roll the bosses and we did. We got 18 members and then dropped down to 17! Very good, very good.

Of course, you know what happened.

“Well, while we are all here; we might as well go for the achievements.”

So: that explains the two-and-a-half hour run.

On some level in my brain, I don’t like being hijacked. Having committed to one thing and then stuck doing the Achievements along the way was irritating. On the other level, I don’t really care — I had a blast!

Since I am not a Mythic Raider, I was delighted to see some of the flavor added to these otherwise well-worn encounters. It was very good for our guild and the Wall of Achievements filling up guild chat.

And … our Message of the Day is that you can visit the guild vendor and pick up a new mount, the Blacksteel Battleboar!

Happy New Year.

  1. We did that recently also. Taking people that were in Heroic raiding gear from Legion made for some of the fights on Mythic laughable. But people had fun. And that’s what you need every so often. And I’m with you on the achievements. If they happen in the course of destroying a boss great. But everyone should be aware prior.
