“Keep close to Nature’s heart… and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean.”
7.1.5 – Tick Tock
The tide rolls in, the tide rolls out.
The moon will wax. The moon will wane.
Blizzard’s balance will teeter and then totter, step by precarious step.
I felt that the patch would come much later than it did because of the class re-balancing act. But it came.
I suggested a drinking game; one shot for every hot-fix. Not a good idea at all, I’d be dead!
Not a single word or peep on the Secondary Stat squish: were they successful?
This coming Tuesday, the release of Nighthold, will serve up a massive re-tuning.
Wholesale, across the spec, buffs and nerfs. Just look at these lines:
- Annihilation, Blade Dance, Chaos Nova, Chaos Strike, Death Sweep, Demon Blades, Demon’s Bite, Eye Beam, Fel Barrage, Fel Eruption, Fel Rush, Fury of the Illidari, Metamorphosis, and Throw Glaive damage reduced by 2%.
- Aimed Shot, Arcane Shot, Barrage, Black Arrow, Bursting Shot, Marked Shot, Multi-Shot, A Murder of Crows, Piercing Shot, Sidewinders, Volley, and Windburst damage increased by 8%.
- Mind Blast, Mind Flay, Shadow Crash, Shadow Word: Death, Shadow Word: Void, Shadowy Apparitions, Void Bolt, Void Torrent, and Void Eruption damage reduced by 4%.
A simple glance over the notes shows incredible changes. Nothing about Druids, oddly enough.
Looking at those lines, it is hard to call it “tuning”. To call it “tuning” is a being generous, this is stick the screwdriver in the engine and twist: hard.
The community felt that hunters had been ignored all through the testing phases leading up to Legion. After Legion dropped, they asked (again) for feedback via a Community Manager who does not play hunter. Conspiracy Theories began; perhaps they were trying to make players change from hunters (the most popular class) to other classes! A brutal manipulation of the player base but only a conspiracy theory.
This though. The Devs are scrambling fast and hard to get it right (thankfully) and trying very hard to make this a solid expansion.
And it has got to be hard! When Emerald Nightmare opened, I think I had one major artifact trait finished; at it’s end, my weapon was loaded for bear. How can you tune a raid with so many factors?
I have felt that Improv has killed Modern Dance and Jazz. Improv Comedy is pretty weak and bloating our movie screens. Improv Game Design, on the fly, surely doesn’t make sense.
