“Grab your sword
Grab your bow
Praise the Lord and here we go!”
The Mob Song from Beauty and the Beast
Displacer Beast is a Druid talent. This means you will specifically choose this talent over other choices. On the surface, it means what it says…
30 sec cooldown
Requires Druid (Balance, Feral, Restoration)
Requires level 30
Teleports you up to 20 yards forward, activating Cat Form and increasing your movement speed by 50% for 2 sec.
As a spell, it has the job is to give you some utility to get about. And, it can completely negate raid mechanics.
As a teleport, you can jump right over the expanding balls on the second raid boss in Nighthold. Or leap right over the collapsing circles in Elisande, I think those circles are just a little bit bigger than 20 yards so you might clip it.
What is not obvious or in the tool tip is that it can negate fall damage.
This means that you don’t need the food buff on Trillax to set off the exploding Scrubbers. The explosion doesn’t hurt much but the fall damage does; unless you use the subtle Displacer Beast.
Same with Krosus when you first step off the landing. Displacer Beast when falling does not teleport you forward, it sort of stops you from falling and lets you down to the ground; gentle as a kitten.
I have to say that my favorite is after killing Normal Gul’dan. One is stuck on the platform but you want to run out of the dungeon and reset it to Heroic. Stepping off of the edge and falling, falling, falling and using Displacer Beast to land is satisfying to every Druid.
One of my goals is to find out the depth of my class. There is a lot to every class and I’d like to find the opportunity and then the full use of my spells.
