A post on the World of Warcraft

The Heart of Azeroth

“Love was in her heart, like seeds in the earth, awaiting the action of the sun.”
Honoré de Balzac

The Heart of Azeroth

I have a bad feeling about this. To fight my foe, the horde, I need to be powerful. I have a medallion and am willing to soak the blood of the planet (a titan being born) to empower my medallion. The horde is doing the same thing. This can’t be right, can it?

I have the horrible feeling that in patch 8.5 that we’ll ask, “oh my god, what have we done?” I am uneasy about this and I am sure many others are as well, it feels evil and wrong. Could we start again, please?

It is early. The expansion is months and months away. Christie Golden’s book comes out in May and that is about the transition to the new expansion; so, at least, that long away. July would be nice, before school starts up again.

Overviews from Blizzcon on the Heart of Azeroth can be found:

The Icy Veins article has some commentary and, well, dis-trust on the why we are doing what we are doing. Thank you, Icy Veins!

A picture of the interface for the medallion can be found here. Take a look.

In this early version, we see four slots dedicated to the medallion: neck, head, shoulders and chest. These pieces can be previewed as drops when we get our Adventurer’s Journal so that we can plan and it will include the information on the “traits” offered by the medallion for that piece. These pieces can not roll up to war or titanforged. I’d guess that all head, shoulder and chest pieces can not roll up in any situation.

Because the Medallion is per character and not per spec, we are getting closer to being able to swap specs with ease. If gear continues to follow the model introduced in WoD of being able to “flip” from agility to intellect, then we’ll mostly focus on having a decent weapon and some trinkets (unless we can find stat-stick trinkets).

Need a tank tonight or a healer? Ready to play!

I’ve read that one simply needs to be near an Azerite deposit and that it will absorb right into the medallion (creepy, no?). I wonder if I can prowl around and avoid fighting.

Frankly, I’m already exhausted! Endless artifact power grinding as a mechanic sucks! It is only time spent in the game, repeatedly running the same content over and over again — and we never arrive! We never smack our hands together with satisfaction and say “next patch please!”.

It is easy for me to understand the players disappointment with the concept of this next expansion; endless horde vs alliance story-lines that try to make us froth at the mouth in anger and justification! They burned our tree, let’s go kill them all — nuke ’em back to the Stone Age!

I don’t feel very noble with lofty ideals. Are these the actions of a hero?

  1. They sure are not the actions of a hero. So something else must be at play here…

Okay well at least the Heart is for all specs instead of the way Artifacts work in Legion. We’ll probably see lots of fine tuning to it so everything can still change 🙂

  2. I think we’ll be collect her blood to use it later to save her. At least it’s an easier concept to grasp inside the fantasy of the game. I never liked how “artifact power” sounded like such a generic resource xD

    1. I’ve seen to that the Fel was all that kept the void in check. Perhaps she in influenced by an old god and loses control unleashing the void.
