Tottle and Narcissa’s Mirror

I bought the pre-expansion for BfA and along with it comes a new cute pet: Tottle.

Super cute.

So, what about Narcissa’s Mirror? Do we get the same stuff? Yes … we … do!

Here it is with the Magical Pet Biscuit.

Tottle likes to sit.

Tottle likes to nap.
totle4

Tottle will go rollin’ like a Goren. A fantastic forward roll in a big circle around the player. This is great and fun and would look even super-cuter with a little Gnome, I think.
totle5
Verdict: one happy player.

Narcissa’s Mirror: Shape Shifting

“A sure cure for seasickness is to sit under a tree.”

Narcissa’s Mirror: Shape Shifting

Druids get a lot of fun with our favorite toy.

The tree on the left is my pet with the Magical Pet Biscuit. When I used the Flaming Hoop, he jumped over the hoop and caught and fire and ran away in terror.

This is my stag (as Brightpaw) resting on the toy from the Cache Key on the Broken Shore. A bit silly but I love it.

Swim Form on the left is a pet! Using the Magical Pet Biscuit, I have some good company as I adventure under-water.

I did bear form too but forgot to screen shot it. Trust me, it is fun stuff.

Narcissa’s Mirror: Test Results

“Magic mirror, on the wall – who is the fairest one of all?”.
The Evil Queen in Snow White and the Seven Dwarves

Narcissa’s Mirror: Test Results

Narcissa’s Mirror is a toy introduced to Legion and can be purchased with Pet Charms. At first glance, having a pet that looks like you might seem trivial and minor. As it turns out, there is a lot to be done and enjoyed.

Use: Causes a companion pet to take on your appearance. (1 Hour Cooldown)
“A Highborne enchantress was so beloved of her own visage that she crafted a mirror that reflected her face for others.”

Vendor: Draemus
Zone: Dalaran
Cost: 1000

Since it is a mini-mirror image of you, there are way too many variations to really research with all of the classes of both genders to be variables. Look into this marvelous toy yourself.

The following is a partial list of ongoing testing. Please take some time on the Accessories List at the bottom of the page; that is where the real magic happens!

Flying Pets in General

  • Flying Pets, with only a few exceptions, seem to be fairly generic. Your body will float off the ground and when you travel, it is a swimming motion. Pretty fun stuff.

Bubbled Fish in General

  • All the bubbled fish have an expanded bubble because your mini-you is larger than the pet fish. You will have a swimming motion when you travel. See Accessories List.

Elwynn Lamb

  • I waited and waited for a Wolf to come eat me but no luck. Keep trying!

Filthling

  • According to Warcraft Pets, “Occasionally spews liquid onto the player, applying a “Filthy” buff for 10 seconds which turns the player a brownish-green color.” I may not have waited long enough, I didn’t see this happen. Keep trying!

Tito

  • Warcraft Pets, “Occasionally summons a tornado that picks him up and whirls about.” Keep trying, this should be spectacular.

Fox Kit

  • The brief dance will be your own racial dance.

Feline Familiar

  • Very unique, your body will fly as if on a broom; with no broom.

Stardust

  • This pet deserves Super Star status! It is very cool to see yourself take off and run in the air around your head. Warcraft pets: ”
Idles about. Occasionally turns into a star, shoots up into the air, swirls above the player, and then falls back down.”

Nuts

  • Yes, your character will bonk and psuedo-stun yourself and other players! And, you get a nice throwing motion betraying the perpetrator.

Darkmoon Zep, Darkmoon Tonk, Toy Train Set, Lil’ XT, Landro’s Lil’ XT

  • XT will demolish the Zep and Tonk! If you are in Narcissa’s Mirror guise, the fight will be very short. XT in Narcissa’s Mirror will sort of wind up and you’ll see a brief lightning bolt. XT will destroy the Toy Train Set which is a toy and has nothing to do with Narcissa’s Mirror. XT will have a line like “I guess he didn’t want to play”.

Warbot

  • Yes, you and your friend can fight each other. You look like you are coming to blows with fists swinging but it is very brief. Each must be using the fuel, one red and one blue. It IS pretty funny.

Brightpaw

  • This is a fantastic pet/toy combination. Warcraft Pets says, “Targeting Brightpaw and emoting /dance will cause her to dance. Emoting /sit while targeting it will cause it to walk over, jump onto your lap and lie down. This pet will sit on top of a summoned Pilfered Sweeper toy.” Soon I will show you a screen cap of my Brighpaw-as-stag-form riding on top of the Pilfered Sweeper toy (from the key cache WQ on the Broken Shore). Animation: “Yawns, sits, and lies down. Occasionally dashes around very quickly.”

Plump Turkey

  • Put down a cooking fire and yes, your mini-you will leap into the fire. As you reach the fire, you quickly see the actual turkey and then … die.

Tiny Snowman

  • The poor guy melted too fast for me to apply the toy effect.

Blossoming Ancient

  • One would hope for the ray of sunshine but all I saw was the pile of petals at the feet.

Argent Squire

  • If you have the Pony Up achievement, you have a mount when traveling on the ground. And you can have him carry your capital city banner. When using the Magical Pet Biscuit, the mount does not get bigger and that, my friends, is visual gold.

Disgusting Oozeling

  • You and your friend will both be green. Totally unique in the World of Warcraft.

Stinker and the Bombay Cat or Calico Cat or Feline Familiar

  • Some may argue that this is the best use of Narcissa’s Mirror! It used to work in raids and then it did not. I expect Blizzard to fix this asap. Warcraft Pets says, “Falls in love with and chases Bombay Cat, Black Tabby Cat, Calico Cat, or a Feline Familiar.” As ever, it always ends with a broken heart and then a frest start!

Boneshard

  • I went to Suramar and put on the masquerade. Then used Narcissa’s Mirror and a Magical Pet Biscuit. Then ported back to Dalaran. This was a crazy eye-catching pet/toy combination. BONE STORM!

Egbert

  • Even without the toy, Egbert is a great pet. He takes off running and comes back.

Blue or Gold Mini Jouster

  • I can’t describe this odd pet. I’ll post a screenshot. It seems to be a jousting teddy bear with X’s for eyes … on your head.

Accessories List
Toy: Leather Pet Bed

  • This is pretty fun. Your pet will head straight over and fall asleep. This will be your own race and gender’s sleeping animation. In the Druid Tree Form, you’ll go over to the bed and sort of collapse down on yourself, just as you do when you /sleep in tree form.

Toy: Leather Pet Leash

  • Much fun. Using the leash on a bubbled fish pet under the effects of the Magical Pet Biscuit will attract some attention!

Toy: Flaming Hoop

  • Put this toy on your Action Bar. It is so great to use over and over again. Your mini version of yourself will try to jump through the hoop, sometimes catch fire and go racing away! If you have used the Magical Pet Biscuit, the giant version of yourself will leap OVER the hoop, he is too big to fit. A must for all pet lovers.

Happy Pet Snack

  • Puts a heart over the head of your pet.

Pet Grooming Kit

  • Sparkles!

Magical Pet Biscuit

  • This might be the item that really makes Narcissa’s Mirror shine. It doubles the size of your pet. A bubbled fish is huge! You have got to try it all all of your pets. Chances are you have some in your bags or your Alts bags, they are account-bound. They can be purchased with Pet Charms and with Timeless Coins (of which I have a LOT but the vendor seems to be timeless too and I have yet to see him when he is on the Timeless Isle).

Notes:

  • You will have to experiment with Transformations. Some will reflect your transformation (usually via a toy) and some will not. I got shot by the Silver Plated Turkey Shooter and could mirror my pet to that turkey. If there is a rule set, I have not figured it out.
  • All Shapeshifting forms work except flight form (you are pacified). Having a fellow swim form is great for underwater exploration.
  • In general, if your character does not have the animations then they won’t happen. The Pandaren Monk has all those karate chops but your mini-you just stands there. Same with Lil Ragnaros and Tideskipper and the Sister of Temptation, unique animations are ignored.
  • Narcissa’s Mirror might be best used in places where you’ll stick around for a while like Dalaran or a Raid.
  • You can hearth and the toy will persist with the travel and some ports like from the Dreamgrove to Dalaran will work. From Dalaran to Iron Forge will not. I don’t know all of the rules and don’t worry too much about it.
  • Find your own Killer Combination! My all time favorite is kitty form with Fandarel’s Seed Pouch on Stardust with the Magical Pet Biscuit.

Outstanding! We have so many pets. Some have glowy auras like the Forest Sproutling or Pierre. Have some fun with this amazing toy in your adventures in Azeroth!

And … here is that screen cap of the mini jouster. Too strange to even describe.

Something Fishy in Azeroth

“I don’t know what it is about ‘Godzilla,’ but as far as I’m concerned, the more versions of it, the better.”

Something Fishy in Azeroth

Continuing with the toy Narcissa’s Mirror, today we are going to look at pets that are bubbled. Two quickly come to mind, Fishy and Sea Pony. There are many more.

Because these pets will soon look like me, it doesn’t matter which one I choose. For me, Fishy is easy to find on my list.

Using the Magical Pet Biscuit, suddenly this little toy dominates the environment.

It was a surprise to me to how big this toy/pet combo can be while using the Magical Pet Biscuit. Using Altoholic, I see that I have many of them. I will probably buy more if I run out, perhaps using my over-stocked Timeless Coins!

See you in Azeroth!

The Wrathsome Project

“I resolved to stop accumulating and begin the infinitely more serious and difficult task of wise distribution.”
Andrew Carnegie

The Wrathsome Project

I’ve worked with many established choreographers over the years and then hundreds of new or student choreographers. Creating new work is very fun and challenging. Sometimes, I’ve learned, that the biggest challenge can be to name the piece! I can see that now when I try to name these darn blogs of mine.

I made a comment on Deez Wurds blog and realized that I had been either inspired or had thinking solidified by Kamalia Et Alia. To which, I realize that I am a Projects kind of guy. Not on the level of Gnomecore who is methodically getting all the class mounts and so much more. My Projects tend to be side-tasks that I work on while playing WoW.

The Narcissa’s Mirror Project
My latest “research” has been at the Summoning Stone for Nighthold. Since I am in my masquerade, I am tall. If I use the toy on a battle pet and then use a biscuit, my pet is now looking like me and almost twice as tall as me!

The Blossoming Ancient pet won’t do much except spawn this huge pool of leaves at the pet’s feet. Boneshard is fantastic, the “bone storm” animation on a giant spinning around all those waiting for the raid to start is great. The Suramar area is fun for the toy.

My Lavish Feast Project
This is a massive project in that I am trying to fill one column of our raid tab with these buff foods. While, of course, raiding and using them.

My five 110s have either the Harvester or Butcher shoulders which keeps me from farming much at all. To make Lavish Suramar Feast you must have made five other foods (which require multiple mats) and you need bacon. To work in volume, which is my desire, it can be brutal on the bag space.

The best way to do this is to cook them up near Nomi. This is for the fire but also the vendor, you’ll run out of butter, snails and olives. Big Gamy Ribs are my challenge and I hate farming them near Nesingwary’s Camp!

Tome of the Tranquil Mind Project
This one was and is easy. I discovered that my Inscriptionist had hundreds of Sallow Pigment. Since the new raid is coming, I loaded up stacks of 5 in our Raid Tab. Plus I sent stacks of 20 to my “favorites” on the raid team. The guess is that many raiders will want to change talents as we discover the challenges of each new boss in Tomb.

The Spirit Cauldron Project
My main has a minimum stack of ten of these beauties. Again, with the Harvester enchant, I rarely have to do much farming. It is a sad thing that these are account-bound. I’d love to not be the guy putting out feasts and cauldrons during a raid. I feel a bit ostentatious doing it and I don’t like it.

The Paragon Rep Mount Project
I am not nearly as organized as Gnomecore but I am playing with an eye on the rep mounts. I have the one from Stormheim, so I am encouraged. This means that at least my Main does an emissary cache run each day, often other 110s as they get exalted in the zones. I also do one turn-in of Legionfall Armies resources a day, if I can AND always choose the 500 resources three-day quest which more and more of my Alts can do now that they have “geared up” their followers.

The Artifact Power Project
I expect some push-back on this one but since I like to raid, I want more Concordance — when it is reasonable to farm AP!

This only means that when the Mage Tower has the Knowledgeable buff up (like right now) that I’ll join the ToV and EN normal and heroic speed runs. This buff rarely lines up with my Nighthold raiding but c’est la guerre!

Looking over my Projects list, it can appear that I am over-playing WoW but many are from passive gains while simply playing as a typical player with an eye on certain focused results.

I’ve considered a Gold Project. I’m selling Tomes right now and could sell Lavish Feasts. I’m selling Raiding with Leashes pets when I run Ulduar for the (really rare) mount. But, in all, I feel I have plenty of gold to splurge when tempted.

How about you, what is keeping you busy?

Idle Animations: Narcissa’s Mirror

“It’s a rather rude gesture, but at least it’s clear what you mean.”
Katharine Hepburn

Idle Animations: Narcissa’s Mirror

I’ve had an interest in Narcissa’s Mirror, the toy that is new to Legion. Using it on your companion pet will create a small version of yourself. There can be a lot more to how that pet-that-is-you looks and acts because of idle animations.

One of my favorite things was to use this toy on Stinker. Then have a friend use theirs on a black cat. Small versions of ourselves would chase about, always ending in a broken heart. However, I tried this last week and it didn’t work even though it had worked before.

Are we waiting, expecting Blizzard to fix this? Do they even know? Did they take it away in raids? Doubt, on my part, can be a horrible thing. As I’m looking through the possibilities, I am also wondering if other toys are broken.

To tackle this project, I’ve been using the filters from Warcraft Pets. I filter the 906 pets listed down to 104 by filtering Has Interactivity. Then I choose a pet that I know I own and click it. Looking down their really good research, I check out the listing for Animation.

I am only part way into this interest but thought I’d post my early findings.

  • It is a mirror toy. If you fly or dash too far away, it will break the illusion.
  • You can use a portal or Dreamwalk and the illusion will stick.
  • Flying pets do not bring their animations. You will not loop-de-loop, sadly. But, the small version of you will hover about shoulder height and swim!
  • It is only a guess which pet will bring their idle animations. Here is my partial list.
    • Egbert: yep, you’ll dash off like an idiot.
    • Pierre: you will have a burning hot animation.
    • Stardust: you do get the flash of light and the quick spin around your head, which is terrific.
    • Tideskipper: you do NOT fart a green bubble, nor do you wave it away, nor do you get a green gas cloud. Total bummer.
    • Brightpaw: You get it all. The flash leaps, the dance, the brief sleep.
    • Pandaren Monk: nothing
    • Fox Kit: the dance will be your own racial dance.
    • Elwynn Lamb: I waited (and I know it is long) but I never saw the wolf come and eat me.
    • Feline Familiar: when you fly, your tiny you looks like it is mounted on a broom but there is no broom.
  • No toy transformations get reflected. It will show you as you in your armor (or if you are naked, then naked: see Pierre).
  • Shapeshifting does get reflected. A burning Feral Cat using the Seed Pouch will be seen (and looks fantastic with Stardust).

The variations begin to escalate and I don’t think that we’ll ever have a compendium or exhaustive list. Especially since at least some seem to be broken.

My next step is finding a friend to play with. Lil XT will demolish the Zep and the Tonk according to Warcraft Pets, will our mini-characters fight? Warbots are reportedly two toys that engage each other, I want to see that as well.

I wonder of those fish in a bubble will make me be in a bubble? There are a LOT of pets to look into! We’ll need all of our Alts to skirt around the 1 hour cooldown.

As my interest expands, I’ll try to keep blogging on it. Have you found any great uses for Narcissa’s Mirror?
