“Oh! I once heard a poem that goes:
“A rose is a rose is a rose”
Well I don’t agree,
Take it from me,
There’s one rose sweeter than any that grows!”
Rosie – Bye Bye Birdie
In my Druid opinion, the Nighthold is a very well designed raid. Most everyone agrees that Emerald Nightmare was too easy, many raid teams cleared it the first day!
Our raid team is working on the Heroic version of Nighthold. We are confident because we have Normal on farm, it is leisurely and we feel powerful. On Heroic, we have the first three bosses down and we hit a wall; hard.
Last night, we downed Krosus for the first time! I hoped that we’d have a collective break-through and kill some more but it was not the case.
We tried Tichondrius for 90 minutes. And failed. We did progress, we hit the berserk timer several times. I know that as we get “the dance” down that we’ll be doing more dps.
Healing Tich is wonderfully chaotic, there is plenty of damage and tasks and awareness for a healer. I like it, especially as my job became more and more clear. Each new phase has a new wrinkle to be surprised by and then, finally, anticipated.
Since it is a kind of a DPS race with a timer, some of our ranged would not do the help mechanics. I know because I saw them not move! They are feeling the heat of needing numbers and hoping someone else will do the mechanics.
It should feel like a ship in choppy water. The boat tilts one way and everyone is pushed in that direction. Back and forth, rocking in rhythm, the mechanics are predictable and known. There is a lot to see and do. That one weak link can be very glaring and really, don’t you hate calling out someone for failing?
With this new patch, we’ll get a power boost. Maybe not a huge one but a boost is a boost is a boost (apologies to G. Stein).
I can feel it. Just a little more power and we can stop being over-whelmed and happily execute the mechanics and … win!
