Our Suggestion Box

Our Suggestion Box

When the United States entered into World War II, the manufacturing plants had to change over from making things for peace time to making things of war time. This was a difficult task and many could not afford massive change-overs to all new equipment.

One attempt at a solution proved to be very successful. They simply asked, “If we can’t do all of the big changes, what small changes can we do?” Many small improvements made the process much better. They asked the workers also because they knew what was stupid and what made their jobs better or worse.

The Suggestion Box was invented during this time.

After the war, the Japanese invited these new experts to teach in rebuilding their country. In Japanese, it is called “kaizen”. Great change through small steps. These ideas were thoroughly embraced. Kaizen means “continual improvement”.

The World of Warcraft has a suggestion box. You see it as you angrily blow past it on the way to leaving a ticket when you’ve deleted your best piece of gear or had your account hacked.

Use it.

We are the players in the game every day. If you see something that would make the game play better; put in a suggestion. They won’t use many ideas but the one’s that are used will make the game better and we want that!

What will be the third spec for a Demon Hunter? Why not make a suggestion?

Now, I’m sure they’ve heard enough about flying and shaman dps and loading screens. But, with the Suggestion Box we do have a quiet voice. And a seed planted may someday take root.

Here is my Suggestion Box list:

  • Make Spine of Deathwing, from seven years ago, as easy to kill as the other bosses. A twelve minute fight at this point is kind of dumb. Enough is enough, we don’t need the nostalgia.
  • Increase the number of Macros my character can use. With toys and tmog and mounts and pets, they are not just for fights anymore. Keep up with your own changes to the game.
  • Make a five player mount so we can all go to the dungeon together.
  • Consolidate all of our hearthstones into an interface like the Mage’s have. And make the trinket that ports me to the Timeless Isle into a hearthstone too.
  • Let the dead fly back to their bodies in all zones; especially Argus. I don’t need a tour from the gravesite.

I’m sure you have your own. When something crosses your mind, drop them a note! Easy as that, done and done, you did your part as a player. Feel good about it!

  1. Like, like, and more like! You read my mind. I use that Submit Suggestion box several times a week. It’s not even 24 hours since I used it last time.

Great “story” leading up to it; I so like how you build up your posts this way.

The way I see it is, we just have to do what we can to have an impact. Do what is possible. The only way I can get something to change in game is by voicing my oppinion in a mature manner and suggest improvements.

I often see people complain in general chat and on the forums. But so few have actual constructive critism.

We try to teach our son, who is 4 years old already, that it’s okay not to like something, and it’s also okay to say that – but it should always be followed with a suggestion for improvement.
